Priorities - Second Amendment & Gun Control

As a gun owner who took the classes to have a concealed carry permit, I want to uphold everyone’s Second Amendment rights.  As times move forward, there has been talk of various “gun control” ideas.  I believe the word ‘control’ is what upsets Americans the most.  I do not like addressing gun issues as a way of “controlling” American’s right to bear arms.  I do want to find ways to reduce mass shootings through thoughtful and proactive discussions.

I do not believe changing the age limit to purchase some firearms to 21, will change mass shootings.  If we are going to ask our young adults who are 18 years old to serve in the United States Military, then they should have the right to purchase a firearm if they pass the standard background checks.  I want to hold people accountable when they fail to follow up on information that could have prevented a mass shooting, such as the one in Parkland, Florida.  The people involved with that failure to act MUST be held accountable and we need to NEVER make those mistakes again.

    Dear Dr. Amjad,
I agree with your stance regarding the Second Amendment. As a registered Independent, I would like to know your stance on being Pro-Life. In addition, do you believe the U.S. Constitution should be interpreted as the Founders intended?

    Sincerely,
    Harry McClung
